GNF Drops Actual Sports Reference (BG Astounded!)

Here's an idea I had. Don't know why this shirt is funny? Well That's what Google is for. Now to insure the post shows up in searches: 72 virgins, 72 dolphins, seventy two virgins, seventy two dolphins and miami.

UPDATE: See comments for explanation of this shirt.

For some reason it just came to me. I was considering the whole 72 Virgins thing and "72' Dolphins" just popped in my head. I must have overheard it from a TV in a bar. Damn you Madden!

What am I missing here?

Ok, lemme 'splain.

"72 Virgins is what we (Americans) think of as the predominant motivation for terrorists to perform suicide missions. It is therefor very un-american.

The "72 Dolphins" are the last NFL team to have an undefeated season. A fact which they promote actively.

"several of their key players get together to toast their accomplishment each year when the last undefeated team in the league loses a game; the Dolphin alumni also send champagne to the team that finally puts a blemish on the last remaining untarnished record."

Very american.

So you see it is the jusxtapostion of what each set represents combined with their phonetic similarities that lends humor to the combination of the two.

9(make that 10) comments see what happens when you incorporate a little thing like sports into your blog. now when is the posting going to come about the story that hit the news today about beer curing cancer. it could be considered a technology story it would make a hell of a t-shirt and the way you(ok we) drink it could definitely considered a sport.
