Aqua Teen Terror Force
Ha! Look at that. Now that is effective marketing! Way too effective perhaps. Adult Swim of Cartoon Network scared the crap out of Boston today. Some simple "Light Brite style" boards were scattered around half a dozen cities to promote Aqua Teen Hunger Force (more likley their upcoming movie.) The boards laid undisturbed in Boston for 3 weeks and then suddenly the calls started coming in. My guess is either someone decided to help "blow up" the campaign. Or someone who didn't like the campaign was hoping to make trouble for the company responsible. The story is here at The BostonistUPDATE: Innocent victims of uneccesary bomb scare lose all of my respect by portraying themselves as complete asses at press confrence. See it here.

I really, really can't understand why people would think they are bombs.
I wish I'd known when they went up in Seattle - I'd have stolen them :-)

The media created this story and you want these guys to play into the media's passion play? They can't talk about their case for obvious reasons, but I'm glad they did it Ignignokt style and did it right back to the media as hard as they could
There comes a time when you acknowledge the reality of your actions. The apology is not to the media, not to the establishment, but to the family that lost a loved one because an ambulance waited in the traffic caused by your freedom of expression. You don't relinquish that freedom, but you apologize for its unfortunate outcome. Freedom does not have to be callous. It shouldn't be.
